Back in biz again

The Antique Emporium opened again on June 26th, 31 days after the tornado hit. There is still no air in the building. While we were waiting for things to happen I went to Mid-Cities Antique and got a small shelving unit there. It has done very well.
I have been staying busy junking for items to put in the booths. The dogs are keeping my busy as well, they seem to realize it stays light longer outside and want to be played with and walked more because it is not bedtime until it is dark. :0)

Thursday and still no news

Still waiting to hear if the Antique mall will be opened for business anytime soon. I talked to the owner this week and he was hoping that the city would pass the structure. A real bummer to have been in the mall for two days and then the tornado hits.
I feel very concerned for the people that do this for an actual income. I would be very upset if I had no income coming in. Thankfully it is just a hobby so that is a relief.
I have been busy going to estate sales and auctions to  get some cool stuff to put in the booth. I am sure that my honey is ready to move me and my stuff into the backyard! :0)
HOT HOT and more HOT is what the weather has been like here. The dogs have been telling us thank you everyday for the nice cool air they lounge in everyday.

Bright Star

If you have never been to the Bright Star Auction house in Sulphur Springs it is quite an experience. They have wonderful items and the auctioneer is pretty good as well. Of course their food is delicious and it appears to be all homemade. I picked up a few things but the one that I am most excited about is the dehydrator.
I have no idea how old it is or really anything about it, for whatever reason it just spoke to me. I thought maybe that I could use it as a display cabinet of some sorts. Would love to find some literature on it.

Can I retire yet????

I can picture myself here on the porch watching the birds and listening to the country! Isn't this an awesome tree! I love this little slice of heaven.

High School is done

I am happy to say that all three of our girls are done with High School now, two have completed college, and one will start in the fall. Erin was accepted at A&M, Southwestern, and was wait listed at the University of Chicago. She chose to go to Southwestern and will start in the fall.
So we are now empty nesters so to speak, although the dogs require just as much attention. We recently had checks stolen from our mailbox so we have been dealing with all the ramifications of that. Doing all your bill pay through auto draft is great until you have to change all the information! :0(
Enough about that kind of yuck stuff! Erin had a busy day Saturday and we went and ate dinner at Benihanna's, she had never been. I think she enjoyed it and of course Stephanie and I love it there. Then back to work after a long weekend, seems like it has been a whole week already at work and it has just been two days!

Happy Thursday

Whoo HOO almost Saturday the day that the youngest graduates. We are quite excited for the occassion to get here. The middle child got here from Kentucky and came by. The hounds were quite happy to greet her. They were eating up the attention!
Weather was great today, they are working steadily on the antique mall so hopefully it will be back in swing in no time.

Bad Weather - Dorothy

Whew!! Bad weather around this place.... Hail and wind, lots of rain too. There were tornado's all around. The hounds were not especially pleased when they started sounding the sirens. We got through with nothing major - just a few dings in the trucks.

However the Antique mall that I put my stuff in was hit really hard. :0( Very sad to hear that. They said that the inverntory inside is okay. Here's hoping that is correct.

There were two a/c units on top of the building one was ripped to shreds and thrown across the highway the other you can see in the picture is at the front of the building knarled up. It usually sits to the left and back.

Hopefully everyone is safe and staying dry.
