Back in biz again

The Antique Emporium opened again on June 26th, 31 days after the tornado hit. There is still no air in the building. While we were waiting for things to happen I went to Mid-Cities Antique and got a small shelving unit there. It has done very well.
I have been staying busy junking for items to put in the booths. The dogs are keeping my busy as well, they seem to realize it stays light longer outside and want to be played with and walked more because it is not bedtime until it is dark. :0)

Thursday and still no news

Still waiting to hear if the Antique mall will be opened for business anytime soon. I talked to the owner this week and he was hoping that the city would pass the structure. A real bummer to have been in the mall for two days and then the tornado hits.
I feel very concerned for the people that do this for an actual income. I would be very upset if I had no income coming in. Thankfully it is just a hobby so that is a relief.
I have been busy going to estate sales and auctions to  get some cool stuff to put in the booth. I am sure that my honey is ready to move me and my stuff into the backyard! :0)
HOT HOT and more HOT is what the weather has been like here. The dogs have been telling us thank you everyday for the nice cool air they lounge in everyday.

Bright Star

If you have never been to the Bright Star Auction house in Sulphur Springs it is quite an experience. They have wonderful items and the auctioneer is pretty good as well. Of course their food is delicious and it appears to be all homemade. I picked up a few things but the one that I am most excited about is the dehydrator.
I have no idea how old it is or really anything about it, for whatever reason it just spoke to me. I thought maybe that I could use it as a display cabinet of some sorts. Would love to find some literature on it.

Can I retire yet????

I can picture myself here on the porch watching the birds and listening to the country! Isn't this an awesome tree! I love this little slice of heaven.

High School is done

I am happy to say that all three of our girls are done with High School now, two have completed college, and one will start in the fall. Erin was accepted at A&M, Southwestern, and was wait listed at the University of Chicago. She chose to go to Southwestern and will start in the fall.
So we are now empty nesters so to speak, although the dogs require just as much attention. We recently had checks stolen from our mailbox so we have been dealing with all the ramifications of that. Doing all your bill pay through auto draft is great until you have to change all the information! :0(
Enough about that kind of yuck stuff! Erin had a busy day Saturday and we went and ate dinner at Benihanna's, she had never been. I think she enjoyed it and of course Stephanie and I love it there. Then back to work after a long weekend, seems like it has been a whole week already at work and it has just been two days!

Happy Thursday

Whoo HOO almost Saturday the day that the youngest graduates. We are quite excited for the occassion to get here. The middle child got here from Kentucky and came by. The hounds were quite happy to greet her. They were eating up the attention!
Weather was great today, they are working steadily on the antique mall so hopefully it will be back in swing in no time.

Bad Weather - Dorothy

Whew!! Bad weather around this place.... Hail and wind, lots of rain too. There were tornado's all around. The hounds were not especially pleased when they started sounding the sirens. We got through with nothing major - just a few dings in the trucks.

However the Antique mall that I put my stuff in was hit really hard. :0( Very sad to hear that. They said that the inverntory inside is okay. Here's hoping that is correct.

There were two a/c units on top of the building one was ripped to shreds and thrown across the highway the other you can see in the picture is at the front of the building knarled up. It usually sits to the left and back.

Hopefully everyone is safe and staying dry.

Time fly's whether you want it to or not....

I have such good intentions of posting on a regular basis and then I don't make the time to get on the computer. The youngest is graduating on the 28th so there is always something going on with last minute projects for school, awards banquets, etc.
Finally decided to go ahead and set up another antique booth, I can't stand to not buy antiques. This way and can buy them and love them for a bit and let them go to another home.
I will post pictures and will be adding a page to this blog for the booth.
Here is a picture of my mother-in-laws pup. He is such a cutie! His name is Cody and he is loving on his duck that his cousins in Texas sent him. :0)

Playing Hide & Seek

We were asked to dog sit our neighbors dogs, they are like our own. Very cute little lady dogs. One is a yellow lab and the other is a breed I have ever seen. Both are very small in comparison to our dogs. I wanted to take a picture of the yellow lab (Sadie) and Brutus to show his size in comparison to a regular size dog.

Sadie had other ideas and she and Brutus were more about playing than having their picture made. Brutus decided that Hide and Seek would be a good game to play. He however forgets how big he is, hiding behind a bush that you are taller than does not work well.

It was a nice time being outside and seeing the big boy interact with another dog.

OOOPPPS!

I am sure that lots of people have done this but I wish I could say I hadn't! I was up in the attic getting boxes down and felt dizzy like I was falling. I went to brace myself not paying attention to where I was stepping, the next thing I knew I could see my husband standing under me! LOL Well it was not funny then but it sort of is at the moment. So after a handyman it will look new again I hope.

Fun places and things on the way home

A different route back allowed me to see some cute mini donkeys and some other fun shopping places! Great to get home but what a great road trip!

New place to love in Georgetown

If you have never been to "The Gathering" in Georgetown you should give it a look. They have wonderful things in the store. I found several pieces there that are now some of my favorite finds. A Kodak camera made in 1913, only produced in England and in awesome condition. It is a small one and I have never seen it in person before. It was a steal to boot.

Love the way the ladies there arranged the shop, right up my alley.

Pics of the trip

Trip to Round Top ~ Antique Seeking!!

Decided to go and see what Round Top was all about. I have always heard about it but had never made the time to go. Since the blue bonnets were out I thought I would also try to get some pictures of some flowers as well. There were many great items to see and lots of friendly people. They have lots of good shopping in Round Rock which is where I stayed. The weather was beautiful, I really enjoyed my trip. Traveling down back roads there were many houses that were certainly about to fall down but were still beautiful in their own right.

To kill Facebook

I am sure that there are many people out there who truly do love Facebook. I think that it is probably a good thing for other people. I just have not taken that leap of faith, I hear alot of people talking about what is said out there. I am dealing with someone talking trash about Stephanie and it makes me really mad.
If I had an account I would so let the person know what I think of them!

Sunday - Spring forward

Such a bummer to loose out on an hour of your day. Of course we all enjoy the fall when we get it back! I went to my brothers yesterday, and hung out, got some sun. In fact a little more than I thought because I was a little warm last night.

The sun was out and the wind was blowing so I guess I was fooled into thinking that there was no way I would get burned.

Country air is nice and I love being able to walk out in the pastures and see wild horses. They have 6 dogs, so if you are ever in a need of a walking companion you have one.

Good news this week was that our kiddo in Kentucky got a job and I lost 6.2lbs. So congrats Stacy on your good news we have been praying for you!

She works with children and is fantastic at it, I wish that I had her patience! Less than two weeks and the youngest of the flock will be 18, time flies and you wonder how you got to this point.

As I have said we are blessed to have a wonderful family - three children that do well for them selves and have what it will take to get them through life.

My wish for everyone in life is to be happy - it is your most valuable asset! :0) Roll around in the grass of life and have fun!!

Tuesday is not Friday!!!

It is really hard to wake up on Monday mornings but then again there is nothing like a Tuesday. It isn't hump day, the get your party started day, or anything good day. But it is a good day because you woke up, your badge worked, and your family is well.

Weather around here is crazy, 20's one day and 70 the next! Hard to know what to wear or plan to do. Tuesday is today and I wish it was Friday!

Arrival of newest Putchinski

Just got off the phone with my in-laws and they finally brought home their new puppy. He is a 10wk old King Charles Springer. My mother in-law is thrilled to death, she has been waiting and waiting through all of the test and shots to get her guy. I am very happy for her but I am thankful that I don't have to take my hounds out into a foot of snow to do their business! She is sending me a picture so as soon as I get it and scan it I will post it.

Dog days of summer??

Nope not summer at all in fact it is the middle of February! My dogs wouldn't know it though! We went for a walk and run in a field, it did not take long for my cuties to start panting. They were silly hounds with their huge tongues all over the place. It is quite amusing to walk around with both dogs because people always stare. 360lbs of dog going down the street is pretty unusual I would say.

Snow Day for Dogs

I wish that the weather would make up its mind! Crazy weather and people just do not drive well because we don't get snow and ice much. School is out and I am the only one that braved it to work. Dogs seemed to enjoy it, Brutus loves to eat snow. We get him snow cones sometimes and he really loves them. I guess to him it was one big snow cone!

The big W W

At the urging of my doctor for two years I decided that I would give Weight Watchers a try. My blood pressure has been out of control for quite some time so anything that could help it I think I am willing to try.
High blood pressure is something that was passed down to me, I have had it since I was about 17. It has really been terrible lately, I have had migraines and dizziness overall felt yucky.
Hate to have headaches, hate to feel like I don't want to do anything so I am giving in and we will see what happens at the "WW". LOL

10lb challenge

They are doing a 10lb challenge at work so I figure it will be worth the $10 to join just to have some accountability. So you pay $10 to a pot and you have to have lost 10lbs. at the end of 10 weeks to be eligible to get a share of the kitty.
Even without the money it is a good kick start to get going on losing some weight to help out my my blood pressure issues.

Happy New Year

WoW already 2011 it seems like yesterday that it was just 2000. Went for a walk through some wooded pastures around and found an old homestead. It was falling in and someone before me had gone through and pulled out a bike. It was as if the person who owned it had just layed it down, pretty cool finding it. Guess that is why I love taking pictures, you can look at an image over and over and still see something new about it.
